KVH Structural Timber

We are presenting four-sidedly planned kiln-dried ( moisture up to 15 %) structural timber selected in terms of its durability. KVH® is a modern softwood product up to 13 m long with bevelled edges .

There are two types of KVH® differing in  in visual condition:

  • Si for visible structures,
  • NSi for non-visible structures.

Technical Description

The moisture and quality of each element are controlled during production. Beams longer than 5 m are connected lengthwise by means of finger joints. The length of the so connected section is up to 13 m without any loss of durability. According to the European standard EN 1912 the timber is classified in class C24. Besides very good dimensional stability is characterized by low propensity to twist and inconsiderable tendency for micro cracks. We offer a very broad choice of diameters and thicknesses.

Compared to other construction materials such as steel or concrete KVH® timber is characterized by low thermal conductivity. Thanks to the use of carrying structural elements made of KVH® timber for external wall structures or for roofs we reduce the occurrence of thermal bridges and thus are able to erect buildings with high energy performance.

Usage of KVH

KVH® timber is used mostly for:

carrying and stiffening structures made of wood, such as e.g. brackets, beams, purlins, rafters as well as poles and caps of wall-, ceiling- and roof- related elements of a building,

visible elements of a structure which meet the high aesthetic requirements (KVH® Si),

structural elements requiring no chemical protection,

structural elements requiring high dimensional stability (± 1 mm).

Broad Use:

wall, ceiling, roof truss structures

joists under decking and floor boards

construction of roofs, arbours, mezzaines, pergolas, racks, benches, carports etc.

frames in skeleton technology

all structural elements requiring high dimensional stability
